A Short Biography of Edward Depass Hamilton Jr
My parents loved to reminisce about my first xmas, for at three-month-old, they put me next to our beautifully decorated xmas tree, filled the air with music and I was a happy and contented baby., with no crying and fussing from me.
While still a crawler, I’d assemble my favorite pots, pans and coat hangers, my first drums, to play along with my favorite orchestras and drummers on the radio.
At about three years old, one of our neighbors bought a piano. For me, that piano was a love at first sight, for I could somehow make music with it. I’ve never known ether how or why this phenomenon exists. Since I couldn’t get enough of playing that piano, my parents insisted that I should begin taking music lessons. This was a complete disaster, for in spite of being forced to take music lessons, for many years, I never learned to read or write music. And therefore, with little to no formal or academic knowledge or training in music, it simply never occurred to me that a career in music was even possible to me.
So, my freshman year, I entered the University of Michigan. seeking to study architecture. After some years of struggling to find myself, I eventually graduated, while majoring in painting and photography, upon graduating, I came to New York City in pursuit of dual careers in both painting and commercial photography. After some years of struggle, it finally dawned on me that I was missing something in my life, and it was music. I simply dropped everything, bought myself a piano, and began the process of playing, composing, and arranging music. I believe that term fusion is possibly the best way of defining my music, for my music is strongly influenced by jazz, classical and pop and movie music.
Beautiful Music Videos are music videos featuring music created by me, Edward Depass Hamilton Jr and videos created by my wife Doris Hamilton. The following is a brief description as to why we began making music videos in the first place.
To begin with, I’m basically a romantic soul, one who has always loved the movies along with the music in the background of those movies which completed the telling of wonderful tall tales. For years, my wife Doris has described my music as, music in search of a movie. Since no one was knocking our door down with movie offers, Doris decided to seize the reigns and began the process of creating videos that actually fit perfectly with my music.
At that time, I had completed a piece entitled “Mountains that Float in the Clouds". Since the piece has such a strong Asian feel, Doris chose the mountains of China Zhangjiajie, for the video. To our great surprise, we were both thrilled at the result, for we found the video was a marvelous enhancement to the music. Not only did the video enhance the music for the music enhanced the video as well. We had thus created an audio-visual experience, and Beautiful Music Videos was born.
We followed with the music videos "Sand Castles", "The Last Time I Saw Them", "Mirror Who Am I", and "I Dreamt Myself A Band", which are all titles designed to stimulate your imaginations and invite you to take an imaginary trip with us, a trip filled with beauty excitement and tranquility.
